Special Issue on Taiwan Cineam
Modern Chinese Literature and Culture

Modern Chinese Literature and Culture is pleased to issue a Call for Papers for a forthcoming special issue on Taiwan cinema. The idea for this special issue emerged from "Island of Light: A Symposium on Taiwan Cinema and Popular Culture," held at the University of Wisconsin (March 7-9, 2002). We welcome especially papers that place contemporary films in the context of historical trends and novel readings of milestones of Taiwan cinema.

The issue is to be guest edited by Yomi Braester (University of Washington) and Nicole Huang (University of Wisconsin). All submissions to this special issue will be put through the normal MCLC peer review process. Deadline for submission is August 15, 2002 and should be sent to Kirk A. Denton at the address below.
