The opening session, in the afternoon of 18 August, will feature keynote speeches by Prof. Xie Mian of Peking University and Prof. Michelle Yeh of the University of California at Davis. The program for 19 and 20 August will accommodate an estimated 50 individual presentations of 30 minutes each, in parallel sessions. The conference will highlight the following themes:

The host institutions have secured funding to publish a broad selection of papers in a high-quality edited conference volume.
The conference languages are Chinese and English. Those making their presentation in English are cordially requested to provide a hand-out or a powerpoint presentation in Chinese.

The final selection of papers will be made and formal letters of invitation sent out in mid-April.
